Traction

Recent Developments
AquiPor’s previous crowdfund helped the Company successfully complete a critical stage of product R&D on its porous concrete technology, and the Company is now ready to scale up its production capabilities to meet project demand.

AquiPor has begun small scale manufacturing of its porous concrete products for proof-of-concept projects and has begun developing a pour-in-place version of its concrete technology for roadway and runway applications.

If successful with this crowdfund, it will allow AquiPor to increase its manufacturing capacity, finalize the technical specifications for commercial implementation of its products, and start growing the markets it intends to serve.

Inaugural Product Line

AquiPor Porous Pavers:
AquiPor porous pavers allow stormwater to flow through the paver and back into the ground naturally, while filtering sediment and pollutants onto the surface, reducing the burden on stormwater systems.

Developed for residential, commercial, and municipal stormwater management applications, AquiPor pavers feature sub-micron porosity, which allows for the filtration of stormwater runoff without clogging.

AquiPor pavers can be optimized with water flow rates ranging from 2 to 10 inches per hour and strength and durability ratings matching traditional concrete pavers
AquiDrain Panels:
AquiDrain product is a version of our porous concrete technology meant for sidewalk infrastructure, whether in the form of precast panels or poured in place.

AquiDrain material meets the standard strength requirements for sidewalks, but provides municipalities and property owners with the added benefit of stormwater management and flood mitigation due to its water-permeability rates of up to 10 inches per hour.

AquiDrains also features sub-micron porosity for the filtration of particulates and sediment, adding a layer of pre-treatment for stormwater runoff before it absorbs into the ground.
AquiFlow Pour In Place:
AquiFlow is a pour-in-place version of our porous concrete technology that features the water flow rates, porosity, and strength characteristics of our precast concrete, but it can be mixed and poured directly into desired locations on-site, where it's then finished and allowed to cure.

AquiFlow allows for versatility in design, a seamless surface (fewer joints than precast), and can be customized on-site (color, texture, patterns). Under development for larger municipal, commercial, industrial, and residential applications, AquiFlow pour-in-place can be used as a stormwater management tool in larger infrastructural projects.
AquiCrete Engineered Aggregates:
The key to our porous concrete technologies, AquiCrete concrete aggregate is a proprietary, engineered aggregate that seamlessly integrates with standard concrete mixes to produce strong and durable porous concrete products.

Derived from a patented catalytic technology, AquiCrete aggregates are sized and graded for optimal workability and finishing, transforming ordinary concrete into high-performance porous concrete that effectively manages stormwater runoff while maintaining structural integrity.
AquiSorb Retention Blocks:
Designed to store large volumes of water, AquiSorb Retention Cells are porous blocks installed in the subterranean layer beneath permeable pavement and capable of retaining and slowly releasing stormwater into underlying soils.

Due to its void capacity and vaulting characteristics, AquiSorb can be utilized in engineered designs with AquiPor pavers or AquiDrain sidewalks to mitigate flooding, facilitate groundwater recharge, improve water quality, and help prevent erosion and subgrade instability in areas that get large rain events.
*The technology and products described above remain under development for commercialization. The Pitch

Extreme weather is overwhelming the water infrastructure in our communities.

Stormwater and urban flooding contribute over 10 Trillion gallons of polluted runoff and wastewater into clean waterways in the U.S. every single year, impairing water quality and affecting ecosystems and human health.

Rapid urbanization has resulted in millions of square miles of impervious surfaces that contribute to stormwater runoff pollution and prohibit rain from soaking into the ground naturally. With nowhere to go, this polluted stormwater often ends up in ocean bays, rivers, and streams, or it becomes floodwater during larger storm events.

The Solution

AquiPor’s porous concrete has been developed as an innovative pavement solution for capturing, filtering, and managing stormwater right where it falls.

AquiPor’s concrete products are produced with a partial net-zero concrete aggregate, helping lower the CO2 footprint associated with concrete production, and features filtration characteristics that are capable of filtering stormwater pollutants, keeping them out of the natural water cycle.

Along with its patented distributed water system for re-infiltrating clean water back into the ground, AquiPor is designed to help manage stormwater runoff pollution, alleviate urban flooding, and naturally recharge aquifers right in the urban environment.

AquiPor’s porous concrete also utilizes a permeable aggregate sourced from a novel Catalytic concrete mix that features a significantly lower CO2 footprint than normal concrete.

As part of AquiPor’s porous concrete matrix, this permeable aggregate can help lower the overall CO2 footprint of concrete production and offer end-users a greener concrete alternative.

Turning Stormwater Savings into Economic Savings

To demonstrate the impact AquiPor’s concrete can have on managing stormwater in a typical community, we’ve run a model to show how much runoff AquiPor can eliminate by replacing traditional sidewalk infrastructure with the AquiDrain sidewalk system in a city that gets 15.5 inches of rain per year.

By replacing 1 mile of traditional sidewalks with the AquiDrain system, we estimate that approximately 2 Million Gallons of stormwater can be returned to the natural water cycle over the course of a year*

This savings represents water that doesn’t need to be treated at wastewater plants, nor imported from hundreds of miles away as is the case in the Western U.S. Instead, AquiPor’s concrete surfaces are designed to naturally capture and manage stormwater, representing economic savings for every gallon of stormwater that naturally returns to the water-cycle.
*Model was produced internally and is based on the assumption that AquDrain sidewalks would be placed on both sides of a neighborhood street for a half mile in length. Using property lots we’ve estimated the total surface area that would drain rainwater into the AquiDrain sidewalk system. A single lot is expected to be 100 feet in length and include the following surface areas:

Street (half its width): 100' x 12' = 1,200 ft2

Sidewalk (one side of the street): 100' x 4' = 400 ft2

Driveway: 400 ft2

House roof and patios: 3000 ft2

Therefore, this model project would consist of 52 total lots (5,280 ft / 100 ft), with each lot containing 5,000 ft2 of surface area that would drain rainwater into the sidewalks system. Additionally, we estimated that 15% of rainwater on this surface area would travel along the gutters into the city’s water drainage system and flow to water treatment plants. The remaining 85% would be returned to the ground because of the installation of our technology. Based on these assumptions and using the annual rainfall rate of 15.5 inches of rain per year, AquiPor would return an estimated 5,490 ft3 (or 41,068 gallons) of water per lot into the ground. Total annual water savings would be 285,480 ft3 (or 2,135,536 gallons).
